EHC Vertical Pump Motor Assembly Upgrade:

The VPMA upgrade package is intended to modernize older outdated components
on the EHC skid such as pumps, filters, relief valves, check valves, air bleed valves
and electric motors.

The original design of the Hydraulic Power Unit positioned the hydraulic pumps above the normal operating fluid level. During the pump start up condition, the pump suction is not flooded this allows the pump to start with air momentarily entering the pump causing cavitation, therefore pump life and system reliability can be affected.

When installed on the existing EHC reservoir, the VPMA electric motors and hydraulic pumps are installed in a vertical position. This positions the hydraulic pumps below the fluid level. This application allows the suction to be flooded and
therefore the pump starts with the case full of fluid and no trapped air in the pump.
The VPMA incorporates all of the existing components in one common manifold.

Each manifold consist of the following:

  • High Performance filter
  • Check valves.
  • Relief valves.
  • Air bleed valves.
  • On line fluid analysis.
  • Water saturation.
  • Differential pressure across filter.
  • Flow meter for pump discharge.
  • Flow meter for pump case drain flow.
  • Isolation valve on pump discharge.
  • Bleed valve for verifying pressure when servicing filter and other.
    components.
  • Fill ports for filling pump case after pumps are installed.

VPMA Diagnostics Panel:

With the Diagnostics panel there is an abundance of information that is available.
Older units do not have any easy way for trouble shooting when problems occur.
The Diagnostics panel is only for monitoring EHC system operation and not for
starting and stopping the EHC Pumps, this is still done by operations; the following
information is an example of some of the things the VPMA can provide.

  • Fluid analysis.
  • Flow rates through pump discharge lines.
  • Flow rates through the pump case drain.
  • Delta-P across discharge filters.
  • AMP load on electric motors.
  • Water saturation levels
  • Pump discharge pressure

The Diagnostics panel menu will allow you to select information over a period of
time.

Example:

If the pump discharge filter is replaced you can reset the data and will log delta-p through the life of the filter. The delta-p visual indicator will show red when the filter is at 50 psi-D.

This is also the same for tracking flows through the pump discharge pressure and the pump case drain. The reason for monitoring these flow rates is to determine if there is a problem with the components up stream of the pump or if there is a problem with the pumps.

All hardware is included for connecting the VPMA to your existing EHC reservoir. If this system is installed with our Servo Manifold trouble shooting multiple servo valves can be done and replaced in a few minutes.

Servo Manifold HydralubeQuick Overview of The Servo Manifold:

Allows the user to:

  1. Monitor flow rates being used by the servo valve and actuator.
  2. Protect the Servo Valve from contamination by incorporating filters before the fluid
passes through the servo strainer. Pre-filters can be changed online and replaced as
needed by indication of the delta-p sensor 50 psid.
  3. Isolate the Servo Valve while on line and replace as needed. Test /bleed points are used
to verify any stored pressure between servo valve and isolation valve.
